The South Windsor Public Library is conducting a strategic planning survey is to gather information and opinions from the community so that the wants and needs of the public are accurately reflected in the library's goals. There is no obligation to be a resident of South Windsor or a regular library user to participate; we are looking for any and all feedback. Physical copies of the survey can be obtained at the Library, Town Hall, and the Senior Center. We will be accepting responses through February 15, 2025.

The Library will be closed on Monday, January 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
The South Windsor Public Library's Makerspace has a range of equipment available for use at no cost to patrons. Patrons who wish to use this equipment must qualify to use each device, sign the Makerspace waiver, and adhere to the Makerspace Policy.
Patrons must check in to the Reference Desk to access Makerspace equipment. Equipment is available on a first come first served basis. While some machines have limited supplies available, patrons may bring in their own. Any materials to be used on our equipment must first be approved by the Reference Staff upon check in.

The Cricut Maker 3 is a digital die cutter. The Cricut Design Studio allows patrons to create designs and send them to the Cricut to be cut. A wide range of materials can be cut with the Cricut Maker 3 such as cardstock, vinyl, fabrics, leather, and more. The library has some limited some supplies available but patrons may use their own upon approval by Reference Staff.
The Original Prusa MK4 3D printer uses digital files to create 3D models. Patrons may bring in USB drives with their designs ready to print. The Original Prusa MK4 will only recognize USB drives with FAT32 formatting. As designs can take a long time to print they may be left. The library has some black and white PLA filament available to use. Patrons may bring in their own filament, but it must be approved by the Reference Staff.
The MAYKU Vacuum Former creates molds of small objects using heat and a vacuum. A plastic sheet is heated to make it pliable and then a vacuum removes the air to shrink the plastic around the object. There are plastic sheets available that create food grade molds; other sheets can be used to make molds for resin, plaster of paris, and other materials that will not melt the mold itself.
The Brother SP-1 Sublimation Printer prints designs on special sublimation paper using sublimation inks so that they can be transfered onto a wide range of materials using the heat press. Materials must be brought by the patron and they must be approved by the Reference Staff on check in.
