The South Windsor Public Library is conducting a strategic planning survey is to gather information and opinions from the community so that the wants and needs of the public are accurately reflected in the library's goals. There is no obligation to be a resident of South Windsor or a regular library user to participate; we are looking for any and all feedback. Physical copies of the survey can be obtained at the Library, Town Hall, and the Senior Center. We will be accepting responses through February 15, 2025.

The Library will be closed on Monday, February 17 for Washington's Birthday/President's Day

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Read any book to your child. Make reading a fun daily habit while developing early literacy skills. The goal is to read 1000 books with your child before they start kindergarten. It's not as daunting as it sounds! The task is not as daunting as it sounds. One book a day equals 365 books in one year. Repeat any book as many times as you (or they) would like.

How it works: Register at the South Windsor Library Children's Desk, pick up or print out a checklist (alternate list version of checklist), and start reading! When children finish a sheet, they can bring it to the library to receive a sticker and move their character to the next level on our '1000 Books Before Kindergarten' board. When a child finishes their 1000th book, they receive a sticker, lunch bag and certificate of completion.
