Solar Eclipse News! We're sorry to report that South Windsor Library does not have solar glasses. There are some libraries in the area that have glasses but are saving them for Aug. 21 programs. Google "Library Solar Events in Connecticut". We have supplies and instructions for making pinhole projectors. We will be showing the eclipse live in the Children's Department starting at 12pm.

State deliverIT CT System in Transition
Due to the temporary shutdown in the State Library's delivery system, you can expect significant delays in receiving items from other libraries for the next several weeks. Items you return to our library for transit to another will also be affected.
We want to help! We can place holds for you on our own materials, find a library where you can pick up items needed immediately,  and take your purchase suggestions. See a staff member for assistance.
Thank you for your understanding!

SWHS Reading List News
Most students at South Windsor High School are choosing one of three novels to read over the summer in preparation for activities at school in the fall.  While the Library and the High School purchased multiple copies of these books, students will need to share copies in order to give everyone a chance to complete the assignment.  If you are finished with a reading list book borrowed from school in June and are willing to share it, please bring it to the Library Information Desk and we will barcode the book and make it available for other students to borrow.

Coming to See an Exhibit at the Library? Don't be disappointed!
The Library is glad to provide many exhibit spaces used to display the talents of members of our community.  Most exhibits are here for a full calendar month.
During the school year in particular, our meeting rooms are also used for gatherings of local organizations (as well as Library programs).  These "one-time events" are often scheduled with very little notice and are not part of the Library's monthly calendar.
If you are coming to see an exhibit in a Library meeting room, please call us at 860-644-1541 to be sure the room will not be in use when you arrive.
When the Library is closed due to inclement weather...
Overdue fines are not charged for days that the Library is closed.  Book drops remain open.
In case of special closings,  information about our hours and any program changes that may result is posted to our website first. Local television and radio stations are contacted, but may broadcast the information with a delay.
If you are unsure about venturing out in bad weather and do not see any special notices, call the Library at 860-644-1541 to be sure we are open before leaving home.
